The cover story of Malaysian Business February Released is really interesting. The wealth club listed top 40 billionaires in Malaysia include the newcomer, the CIMB Group Chief Executive, the younger brother of Prime Minister. According to the report he is the only makan gaji person who is not the founder of any company or second generation entrepreneur. (but he is a great dealmaker).I am not interested to review about him or the wealth club issue, but the comment by Charles Raj about the fuel subsidy, make my brain cells digested and runned a bit fast.
The wind of subsidy reschedule is blown throughout the nationwide now. A rumor had said a fuel price will increase up RM4 per liter. The subsidy system also will be revamped after May, said the rumor. The method and the mechanism of the subsidy scheme have yet to be announced, but the rumors from some Big Guns in Petronas have said it will involve the MyKad identification of petrol purchasing. Ha ha ha..would that be any loopholes there?
Knowing Malaysian …Malaysia Boleh!!!

Case #1:- I still remember a decade ago, a withdrawal scheme of EPF contributors to purchase computers was abused. Apparently, many contributors were in cohorts with computers vendors to provide false invoices to the EPF to withdraw the money.
Case #2:- I was in contract department last two years and my official job is to evaluate the tender. Obviously the government tender is 30% stake for Bumiputera and what happen to the succeeded bidder? Sold it off and makan atas angin.Another scenario is license for hire. The state of Johore is practically well known as the License for Hired Power House.
Case #3:- A few years ago during Pak Lah tenure, when fishermen were given diesel subsidies, they sold subsidy coupon for a profit. They later decided not to go to the sea after getting the profit.
Many more case lah...
I just don’t what to say but talking about Malaysian, they are really excelled at exploiting the subsidy. I quoted here what Dr. M had said “if they want to be rich, they will find the easiest way .If they can sell the country, they will but if they cannot they will sell sand.”
